Thomas Gayner
Thomas “Tom” Gayner has served as Chief Executive Officer of Markel Group since the start of 2023 and was co- Chief Executive Officer prior to that since 2016. Markel Group is a holding company with operations in insurance, services, and industrial operations. Markel Group is listed on the Fortune 500 and is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, with more than 70 offices in 16 countries.
Tom joined Markel Group in 1990 and oversees all investing activities. He is also responsible for Markel Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary which acquires controlling interests in manufacturing, technology, and service companies.
Prior to joining Markel Group, Tom served as Vice President of Davenport & Company LLC of Virginia and as a certified public accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Tom serves as Chairman of the Board of the Davis Series Mutual Funds and on the boards of Graham Holdings, The Coca-Cola Company, and Markel Group. He is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Virginia Retirement System.
Tom is a graduate of the University of Virginia and The Lawrenceville School.

Susan Gayner
Susan Gayner served as President and CEO of ParkLand Ventures, Inc., an owner-operator of multifamily housing communities in the US, from 2014 until her retirement in 2022. Prior to assuming the CEO role, she served as COO after joining ParkLand in 2008. She is a Chemical Engineer by training and served in various capacities with both the DuPont Company and Hercules, Inc., prior to her tenure with ParkLand. She currently serves on the board of directors of Constellation Software, Inc. (CSU-TO), where she is a member of the Audit Committee. Susan also continues to serve as a member of the three-person board of directors at ParkLand Ventures. She holds a BA (Chemistry) and an ME (Chemical Engineering), both from the University of Virginia.

Tyler Brown
Tyler Brown is the Managing Director, Investments at Markel, where he helps CEO, Tom Gayner, manage the public equity and fixed income investment portfolios. Tyler also leads the firm’s Investor Relations efforts. Before joining Markel in January 2022, Tyler worked for TSW, where he led research on two long/short hedge fund products called WPS Capital and WPS Direct, and Lawton Park Capital Management, a value-oriented long/short hedge funded based in Stamford, CT. Mr. Brown has also held positions with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Susquehanna International Group, and Davis Wealth Management. Tyler graduated with an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2014 and a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in 2005.

Jeremy Kokemor
Jeremy Kokemor founded Right Tail Capital: a concentrated, fundamental equity investment firm based in Richmond, Virginia. Jeremy loves helping people with their investments through owning high quality, under-valued companies for the long term. Jeremy grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana prior to attending the University of Virginia. After working in investment banking and investment management, Jeremy graduated from Harvard Business School. He then worked with several fantastic investors at global mutual fund company T. Rowe Price before managing concentrated portfolios at Private Advisors and Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley.

Brad Carnahan
Brad Carnahan is the Managing Member of Carnahan Capital Management. Prior to starting Carnahan Capital Management, Brad worked at Markel Group and before that in public accounting at Cherry Bekaert. Brad earned a BBA and master’s degree in accounting from James Madison University.

Ralph Birchmeier
Ralph's expertise is in accounting, finance, valuation and strategy. He studied accounting, worked as a CPA for a major accounting firm, earned his MBA and his CFA designation, then worked for a $30 billion global investment manager helping to build small cap and all cap global equity portfolios. In recent years he has focused on teaching at the undergraduate and MBA level, nonprofit work, and the private markets with a particular emphasis on Pre-seed through Series A companies. He is the author of Reasons to Pass, A Guide to Making Fewer and Better Investments which was published in 2023.

Wolf Joffe
Wolf Joffe is the Founder and CIO of EVR Research located in Richmond, VA, which launched in July 2016. Mr. Joffe has over twenty years of experience in public equities investing, having served as a Managing Partner at Raging Capital Management and as an analyst at JLF Asset Management and Tremblant Capital. Mr. Joffe earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia (2000) and his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School (2008).

George Craddock
George Craddock has been with Ranger Global Holdings, which he helped to co-found, since 2019. Prior to Ranger, he served as the first director of the Richard A. Mayo Center for Asset Management, a research center focused on the advancement of investing and asset management at the University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business (Darden).
Before returning to Darden, George worked in the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs and, before business school, in both education and consulting. He holds an A.B. in Classics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Darden. George is a CFA charter holder and served on the board of the CFA Society of Virginia; he currently serves on the finance committee of the Piedmont Virginia Community College Educational Foundation and as a lecturer and co-instructor for Darden Capital Management.
